What are alternative therapy treatments for cancer? Alternative therapy can be herbal/vitamin treatment, exercise such as yoga, meditation, prayer, acupuncture, and diet modification. There are many other alternative therapies but these seem to be the most common.
In Australia half the men that are diagnosed with cancer are turning to complementary and alternative medicine, known as CAM. According to the research in Australia the men believe this will aid in finding a cure or to improve their health.
In one of the articles where alternative therapy was used to treat breast cancer the conclusion was the disease progressed, there was an increased risk of recurrence, and possible death. These risks were seen more in patients that elected not to have surgery at all or delaying surgery.
This could be something to think about if you or someone you know is battling cancer. Most of the research I found was in other countries mainly Australia and Canada. This does not seem to be something that is popular in the United States. If I was battling cancer, is this an option I would look at? Perhaps it would be worth a shot if the cancer was caught in the early stages. One of the diet treatments was eating pomegranates. When I was younger everyday walking home from school my friends and I would get pomegranates off a tree to eat while walking. Does this mean I would have less of a chance of getting cancer? Probably not as cancer has been a deadly disease in my family.
Cancer takes the lives of so many and age does not matter to this disease. I have several friends fighting cancer right now and I have several that have fought and won the battle, and my mom was fighter but cancer got the best of her. She passed away in 1995 from colon, liver, and lung cancer. I hope someday they find a cure for this horrible disease, even if it is alternative therapies.
